Different Types of Vinyl Flooring

When you’re looking for a new durable flooring option, we have the selection you are looking for. Washington’s Carpet One Floor & Home in Mansfield, OH has everything you need when it comes to vinyl and luxury vinyl flooring options. Vinyl type flooring is the perfect alternative to hardwood or stone flooring because it is so easy to install and takes less time to clean and maintain. Vinyl and luxury vinyl may have some of the same properties, but they are definitely two different types of flooring options.

What is Sheet Vinyl?

When most homeowners think of sheet vinyl, they think of outdated products. Sheet vinyl has seen several improvements over the years, and features more realistic visuals than ever. Because sheet vinyl comes in 12-foot-wide rolls, the installation is usually seamless and smooth.

An advantage of sheet vinyl is that you can install it anywhere in your home. It is perfect for high traffic areas and places with a lot of moisture such as kitchens and even basements. Sheet vinyl is easy to install, and uses a permanent adhesive to ensure there is no shifting.

What makes Sheet Vinyl Different from WPC or Rigid Core?

WPC flooring, or wood plastic composite flooring, is a totally waterproof and incredibly durable flooring option. WPC is constructed of different layers, unlike sheet vinyl, that all contribute to its durability and ability to look like natural stone or hardwood.

Sometimes you will find LVT/LVP that are also waterproof/WPC, but not always. They mean two different things. Typically, all WPC products will be considered luxury vinyl tiles or luxury vinyl planks, but not all luxury vinyl is WPC.

Rigid core products are the ultimate luxury vinyl option because of their incredible durability and very realistic visuals. A luxury vinyl product is typically considered something that features thick and durable layers, realistic printing, a durable wear layer, and a textured surface. Both rigid core and WPC fit this mold, but sheet vinyl does not, making it just a vinyl product, and not a luxury vinyl product.
